| Bio: | ![]() Character Information Name: Silver True Name: Devina Sunners Gender: Female Age: 18 Birthday: December 9, 2002 Greatest Ambition: To prove to herself that she's worth something Physical Description: She has medium-length blonde hair, contrary to the looks of her parents and siblings, and light blue/grey eyes that really are a family trait. She is very thin and considered weak, but that isn't the case. She is very fit and has to be for the work she does for her tribe, but not overwhelmingly muscular. Distinguishing Marks: Various scars left over from childhood, but almost none in places she leaves open for people to see. Sexual Orientation: No preference Single or taken: Single Best friend: N/A Personality: Silver will never admit she's good enough to do anything, feeling she has no real talents or unique qualities and that she can just blend into the crowd easily if she allowed it. Her whole life, she was always second to something, the runner up, the lesser of two and never came in first. She has self-esteem issues and she knows it, but she seems satisfied with that and doesn't want to change it. She believes that being second best will keep her safe. She's open and friendly with everyone she meets, but still generally shy, leaving all the talking to her sister, whom she tends to stick to a lot. She has a lot of secrets, but figures everyone has secrets so it's alright to keep them in. She likes to read a lot and is very smart because of it, and did very well in school before the schools started shutting down. Personal History: Devina Sunners was the youngest child of three, born to a very dysfunctional family, and from a young age learned how hard life could be, even if your only trapped in one room. From childhood, she knew how to hide and make herself scarce like the best of them, but it wasn't always that easy. Despite her older siblings being there to take care of her, she really couldn't escape her father when they weren't around. She figured it was normal, because she knew she wasnt the only child in the house getting beaten from time to time. Things weren't so bad to start and when all five of them were living together. She did well in school, convinced that she could make somthing of herself, despite her upbringing. She planned to go to college, maybe become some big shot lawyer or doctor or something else that would bring in a lot of honest money so she could repay her older siblings for their kindness. She wasn't bitter about how she was treated, but longed for things to be different, so she spent long hours and most of her days late at school or at the library, reading as much as she could, if only to keep her busy and out of the house. She loved her siblings but felt very differently about her parents. She could not respect her mother for allowing them to grow up and live that way, and hated her father with a passion. When she was twelve, her older sister and last defense left home. Was kicked out, could be more accurate, but for whatever reason, she was gone and Devina was left to her own devices. She spent more and more time away from home, which actually caused more beatings when she did get home for disobeying her father and breaking curfew. The next four years were harsh on her, causing her to rethink her life and her goals. She wanted so much to succeed where the rest of her family had failed, but found herself losing more of her dream every day as time passed and as things got worse at home, she longed for an escape. She doesn't desire to speak or even think about her time in her father's house, and blocks it out now, concentrating more on her present-time tasks. She remembers the day her father died quite vividly. They had been moving around for a while after the virus started killing, trying to avoid it and survive, but Devina had no interest in surviving. Some nights, she wished she could just die and then everything would be okay. She no longer had school work to keep her busy and occupied and reduced herself to hiding out, only returning home when she had to and after she knew her father was passed out drunk. One morning she woke up and got dressed, prepared to leave the house and hide out again, but when she walked into the living room of their current home, she witnessed her father's last breaths. She recalls now laughing then. As soon as his eyes rolled back and she knew he was gone, she'd laughed. The only bad thing about it was her mother was soon to follow, and then she had only her brother. He visited only once more after that to check on her, and died in his sleep that night. She stayed in the house for another month or so after moving her parents' bodies out to the back yard, now free to do whatever she wanted. She gave her brother a proper burial (or as well as she could on her own) in the local cemetery, though the grave remains unmarked. She considered the virus a sort of blessing, a chance for her to finally be happy, even though she was alone. She packed up her things one morning, suddenly inspired to move on, then took her father's truck into town where she found everything in chaos. She settled into a small house on the outskirts of town where she attempted to survive on her own, but soon realized that she really did need others around to help her. She wandered out day after day to check out what was going on in town and hopefully find someone that could help. Her sister found her a few weeks later and she was immediately brought into the River Runners tribe. She'd lost her brother, but the relief of finding her sister was almost too much. She was trully happy for the first time in a long time and she felt that she really had a family, even if it was only the two of them. She had been close to her brother and still ventures out to visit his grave from time to time, but has accepted the loss and has moved on. Since joining up with the tribe, she's learned much about the ways of the real world and sometimes it can get as bad as it was at home, but she's also learned a lot about surviving. In the past years, she's learned everything about the boats they're living on and is very handy with repairs because of the knowledge she'd absorbed during her reading in school. She doesn't mind the hard labor now, figuring it's a lot easier to help drag a boat onto shore and repair it to be used again rather than spend a few more years in her father's house. Her body has since conformed, becoming more fit to accommodate the work, and she is constantly trying to think of ways to improve the boats to help them. She changed her name to Silver soon after joining the tribe to remind herself that there's always something better, but it doesn't really bother her all that much anymore. She's happy where she is and she couldn't be any more pleased than if she'd grown up with a normal family and with loving parents.
